Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut

Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut represents the DNA of Maison Perrier-Jouët. It is the direct descendant of the first cuvées blended by Pierre-Nicolas Perrier and his son Charles Perrier. This is a rich, harmonious cuvée in which the floral notes of Chardonnay are complemented by Champagne’s two red grape varieties, Pinot Noir and Meunier.

“Whenever I taste Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, I am reminded of a shortbread biscuit – crumbly around the edges, but melt-in-the-mouth in the middle,” says Séverine Frerson. Deep gold with hints of green, Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut is a superbly structured cuvée characterised by delicate floral aromas, rounded out by luscious notes of apple, pear and pineapple. It combines crispness with a lingeringly rich, generous finish, preserving its distinctive balance and harmony to the very end.

For Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut, Séverine Frerson selects around 50 different crus from across the Champagne region, expertly blending each cru, as well as a percentage of reserve wines, to replicate the style and quality of the cuvée year after year. She sources Chardonnay grapes primarily from the emblematic villages of Chouilly, Avize and Cramant in the Côte des Blancs. Their floral nuances are enhanced by the structure of Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims (Verzy and Verzenay in the north, Ambonnay in the south). Finally, Meunier grapes from Dizy and Damery in the Vallée de la Marne contribute their notes of orchard fruit.
