Embark on a memorable full-day journey from Paris to the historic D-Day landing beaches of Normandy, accompanied by an expert guide who will bring the events of World War II vividly to life.
On June 6, 1944, known as D-Day, the Allied forces launched the largest amphibious military operation in history, opening a new front in Western Europe against Nazi Germany. This decisive operation marked the beginning of the Battle of Normandy and paved the way for the liberation of Europe. More than 150,000 Allied troops from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and other nations landed on the beaches of Normandy, including Omaha, Utah, and Juno Beaches, as well as at the strategic cliffs of Pointe du Hoc.
Your day begins with a 7:00 a.m. departure from central Paris. Travel in comfort aboard an air-conditioned coach while enjoying the picturesque scenery of the Norman countryside.
The first stop is the iconic Pointe du Hoc, where American Rangers carried out one of the most daring assaults of the D-Day landings. Standing atop the dramatic cliffs overlooking the English Channel, you will gain insight into the strategic importance of this key battlefield and the extraordinary courage displayed there.
Next, continue to Omaha Beach, one of the most fiercely contested landing sites on D-Day. Heavily fortified by German defenses, this beach witnessed some of the most intense fighting of the operation and remains one of the most powerful symbols of Allied sacrifice and determination.
The tour then takes you to the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach. Spread across 70 hectares, this solemn memorial site is home to 9,387 white marble headstones, a memorial chapel, and the Garden of the Missing. It serves as a lasting tribute to the American soldiers who gave their lives during the Battle of Normandy.
Your journey continues to Arromanches, renowned for its artificial Mulberry Harbor, an extraordinary engineering achievement created by the Allies to facilitate the rapid unloading of troops, vehicles, and supplies after the landings. Remnants of the massive concrete “Phoenix” caissons can still be seen offshore today.
Enjoy some free time in Arromanches to relax and have lunch while taking in the atmosphere of this charming seaside town.
The final stop is near Juno Beach, where Canadian forces landed on June 6, 1944. You will also visit the nearby military cemetery, a place of remembrance honoring those who fought and fell during the campaign.
After a day filled with history, reflection, and discovery, return to Paris with an expected arrival at approximately 8:00 p.m.
