Embark on a memorable full-day excursion from Paris to the historic D-Day landing beaches of Normandy, accompanied by an expert guide who will bring the events of World War II vividly to life. On June 6, 1944, known as D-Day, the Allied forces launched the largest amphibious military operation in history, opening a new front in Western Europe against Nazi Germany. This decisive operation marked the beginning of the Battle of Normandy and paved the way for the liberation of Europe. More than 150,000 Allied troops from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and many other nations landed on the beaches of Normandy, including Omaha, Utah, and Juno Beaches, as well as at the strategic cliffs of Pointe du Hoc. Your day begins with a 7:00 a.m. departure from central Paris. Travel in comfort aboard an air-conditioned coach and enjoy the scenic landscapes of the Normandy countryside along the way. The first stop is the iconic Pointe du Hoc, where American Rangers carried out one of the most daring assaults of the D-Day landings. Standing atop the dramatic cliffs overlooking the English Channel, you will gain a deeper understanding of the strategic importance of this site and the bravery of the soldiers who fought there. Next, continue to Omaha Beach, one of the most fiercely contested sectors of the Allied invasion. Heavily defended by German forces, this beach witnessed some of the bloodiest fighting of D-Day and remains a powerful symbol of courage and sacrifice. The tour then proceeds to the Normandy American Cemetery at Colleville-sur-Mer, overlooking Omaha Beach. Covering 70 hectares, this moving memorial site features 9,387 white marble headstones, a memorial chapel, and the Garden of the Missing. It stands as a lasting tribute to the American servicemen who lost their lives during the Battle of Normandy. You will then travel to Arromanches, famous for its artificial Mulberry Harbor, an extraordinary engineering achievement that played a vital role in the success of the Allied landings. Even today, the remains of the massive concrete “Phoenix” caissons can still be seen offshore. Enjoy a relaxing lunch in Arromanches, included in your excursion. Your meal consists of one main course and one drink, giving you the opportunity to savor a pleasant break while enjoying the atmosphere of this charming coastal town. In the afternoon, continue to the area around Juno Beach, where Canadian troops landed on June 6, 1944. You will also visit the nearby military cemetery, a place of remembrance dedicated to those who fought and fell during the Normandy campaign. After a day rich in history, emotion, and discovery, return to Paris with an expected arrival at approximately 8:00 p.m.
