Small in size yet remarkable in stature, Giverny is one of Normandy's most visited destinations. To make the most of your visit, the local tourism office is the perfect first stop. Extime Travel shares everything you need to know to explore the village with ease, so the day unfolds at your own pace.
This main tourism office is an official and historic hub for the Eure department in Normandy. It offers a wealth of information on the region: must-see places, emblematic destinations, and views of its most beautiful landscapes, with even a dedicated section on the history of Giverny and Monet.
Despite its modest size and unassuming appearance, Giverny ranks among the most visited destinations in Normandy. A few telling figures help set the scene.
Around 627,000 visitors a year at Monet's house and gardens, making it the second most visited site in Normandy, just behind the Mont-Saint-Michel abbey.
Around 178,000 visitors a year at the Giverny Museum of Impressionisms (2014 figures).
It is precisely to meet this demand that Giverny created a welcome center entirely devoted to the town's tourism. The Maison du Tourisme Normandie Giverny opened its doors on June 1, 2012.
This center is the fruit of a collaboration between the Communauté d'Agglomération des Portes de l'Eure, the Giverny town hall, the tourism office of the Portes de l'Eure, the regional councils and their respective tourism committees, the General Council of the Eure, and Eure Tourisme.
Working with various local partners, the Giverny tourism center of Normandy operates throughout the tourist season, from April to October. During this busy period it stays open seven days a week. Inside, you will find plenty of useful and practical information thanks to touchscreen and classic information points, an interactive booth, brochures, books, and a small shop. Its aim is simple: to make you feel at home in Giverny and let you discover the village and its hidden charms effortlessly.
