Notre-Dame de Paris: opening hours and address

The cathedral welcomes visitors from Monday to Friday, from 7:50 a.m. to 7 p.m. (closing on Thursday at 10:00 p.m.), and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8:15 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A welcome desk is located inside the building, directly in front of the entrance, and is open year round. It is open from Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6 p.m. (closing on Thursday at 9:00 p.m.), and on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Notre-Dame draws the largest numbers in summer, particularly in July and August. For a calmer visit, a few simple habits help.

• Avoid Mass times, when churchgoers and onlookers gather in greater numbers.
• Avoid major religious holidays such as Christmas, Easter, All Saints' Day, and the Assumption on August 15.
• Come on a Tuesday or Wednesday, usually the quietest days. Sundays, with the most services, are the busiest. 

The cathedral's official address is 6 Parvis Notre-Dame, Place Jean-Paul II, 75004 Paris. Set on the Île de la Cité in the very center of the capital, it is easy to reach by public transport.

Parking is available at the Parking Notre-Dame on the Place du Parvis Notre-Dame, accessed via the rue de la Cité 

Many sights lie within easy walking distance. The Sainte-Chapelle and the Conciergerie are about six minutes away, the Luxembourg Gardens and the Louvre are roughly twenty minutes by foot. 

To visit outside service times, plan around the cathedral's Mass schedule. Early morning on a weekday offers the most peaceful experience.
