Paris Plages, summer on the banks of the Seine

Every summer, the banks of the Seine transform into urban beaches. Sand, deckchairs, free activities and lively spots: Paris Plages, launched in 2002, has become an essential part of summer in the capital.

An operation born in 2002

Paris Plages was born in 2002, with a simple aim: bringing a holiday atmosphere to the heart of the capital, for those who do not leave Paris. Year after year, the operation has grown and now welcomes millions of visitors during the summer.

Sandy beaches, plant-shaded areas, decks along the banks: the setting transforms into a real seaside, in the very heart of the city. The Seine becomes once again a place of life, of meeting and of rest.

Free activities for all

The programme is designed for everyone. Open-air sport sessions, dance lessons, concerts, family workshops, recreation areas for children, libraries: the activities are mostly free and accessible without booking.

The mood remains family friendly and relaxed. Cafés and snack bars complete the offer for a full day along the water.
