Champs-Élysées walking tour: explore Paris on foot

Often described as the most beautiful avenue in the world, the Champs-Élysées is best explored on foot. Stretching from Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe, this iconic Parisian avenue combines historic landmarks, luxury boutiques and green spaces. Take your time to walk along the Champs-Élysées and discover its many facets, especially on the first Sunday of the month, when the avenue becomes fully pedestrian.

From Place de la Concorde to the Arc de Triomphe

The Champs-Élysées runs for nearly 2 kilometres, offering one of the most impressive perspectives in Paris.
Starting at Place de la Concorde, the avenue gradually rises toward Place Charles-de-Gaulle, where the Arc de Triomphe stands. Along the way, the walk reveals two distinct atmospheres:

The lower section (Concorde → Rond-Point): quieter and lined with gardens, perfect for a peaceful stroll.

The upper section (Rond-Point → Arc de Triomphe): lively and vibrant, with flagship stores, cafés, theatres and luxury brands.

Pedestrian Sundays, a unique experience

On the first Sunday of every month, the entire avenue is closed to traffic and given to pedestrians.

Walkers, runners, cyclists, families: the entire stretch comes alive in another way.

An unusual experience, also recommended for those who want to take a photograph in front of the Arc de Triomphe with a quieter setting.

Around the Champs-Élysées avenue

The Champs-Élysées are surrounded by the Golden Triangle, with the avenues Montaigne and George-V, and host emblematic monuments such as the Grand Palais and the Petit Palais.

The Élysées gardens, often less crowded, offer a refreshing detour.
Several metro stations serve the avenue: George-V, Franklin-D.-Roosevelt, Concorde and Charles-de-Gaulle-Étoile.
